Welcome to The Open Accelerator Healthcare Hackathon!

We are thrilled to have you join us on July 25th at the Red Hat Fort Point office in Boston. You will be spending the day building real-world solutions to some of the most pressing clinical computing problems in healthcare today. To ensure you hit the ground running, please review this essential pre-flight checklist.

1. The Pre-Hack Checklist

• Join the Discord Server: All announcements, room assignments, mentor requests, and team building will happen here. Join via this link: **https://discord.gg/zUQFQHXuU**
• Form Your Team: You can compete in teams of up to 5 people. If you don't have a team yet, drop into the #team-matching channel on Discord to introduce yourself, share your skills, and find teammates!
• Prep Your Dev Environment: We are moving fast, so have your environment ready to deploy.
  • Python is Required: We will be providing jumpstart boilerplate code written in Python (specifically utilizing frameworks like FastAPI). Please ensure you have a recent version of Python installed locally, along with your preferred IDE (VS Code, Cursor, PyCharm, etc.).
  • GitHub: Ensure your GitHub account is active and you are ready to clone repositories and push code.
  • API Knowledge: Brush up on basic HTTP requests and API handling, as you will need to interact with local servers and JSON data.
• Bring the Essentials: Bring your laptop, charger, and any adapters you might need. We will provide the food, caffeine, and Wi-Fi!

2. The Challenge Tracks

The exact problem statements are strictly classified until the morning of the event! However, we can tell you that you will have the option to choose between two distinct challenges on the day of the hackathon:

• Track 1: A heavy-duty backend data architecture and privacy challenge.
• Track 2: A full-stack, user-facing product and design challenge.

Both tracks will be revealed during the 10:00 AM opening remarks.

3. Schedule at a Glance

• 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Check-in, grab breakfast/coffee, and find seats in any of the available work rooms.
• 10:00 AM - 10:35 AM: Welcome, logistics rundown, and Challenge Tracks announced!
• 10:35 AM - 11:00 AM: Finalize team formation and submit your team's track choice. Mentors will be available in the "Candy Buttons" room for Q&A.
• 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM: Build Time!
• 12:00 PM: Working lunch served in the 3rd-floor kitchen.
• 12:15 PM & 12:45 PM: Lightning talks by Rudolph Pienaar and Erynn Petersen.
• 3:00 PM: Code freeze. All teams must stop coding and prepare their demos.
